Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesman for Iran, responded to US claims of progress in negotiations at a press conference in Tehran. He acknowledged that significant progress has been made on many issues but emphasized that an agreement is not imminent due to the inconsistent behavior of the US and the emergence of contradictory positions within hours.
Baqaei criticized the „Zionist regime“ and internal turmoil in Washington, attributing these factors to a disorganized decision-making process in the US government. He highlighted Iran’s commitment to securing national interests and protecting its rights through a 14-article memorandum that addresses ending the war, Strait of Hormuz security, and halting US measures under blockade conditions.
Baqaei also mentioned plans for talks within a 60-day framework to discuss details of the memorandum, with nuclear matters being one of the topics. He stressed that Iran is not currently discussing nuclear specifics at this stage but rather focusing on ending the war.
