Mehr News Agency reports that Iran has formally conditioned the commencement of any negotiations on a series of confidence-building measures, including the end of the war in Lebanon, lifting of sanctions, release of frozen financial assets, compensation for war damages, and recognition of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz. In contrast, the United States has responded with excessive demands that include no reparations or compensations to Iran, refusal to release blocked assets, and a demand for the transfer of approximately 400 kilograms of uranium from Iranian custody to American control.
Additionally, Washington is seeking long-term restrictions on Iran’s nuclear sector as a precondition for talks. The United States aims to secure through diplomacy what it failed to achieve through military means without offering any tangible benefits in return, leading to ongoing deadlock in the negotiations.
