Somalia Threatens Countermeasures Against Israel Over Recognition of Somaliland

Somalia has issued a stern warning against Israel’s recognition of the breakaway region of Somaliland, with the country’s ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union, Abdullah Warfa, stating that any violation of Somalia’s territorial sovereignty will not be tolerated. The threat comes in response to Israel’s recent agreement to exchange ambassadors with Somaliland, a move that lacks international recognition under UN frameworks.

Warfa also warned that external interference could result in countermeasures, including restrictions on access to the key maritime route of Bab al-Mandab. This development highlights the ongoing tensions between Somalia and its neighbors over territorial claims and diplomatic recognitions.
