In a recent official statement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the establishment of a new „smart control“ maritime zone in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The zone is defined by specific geographical coordinates and will be managed by the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump indicated that his administration would assist ships stranded in the strait, launching a campaign called Project Freedom to ensure free passage for neutral vessels. In response, Iranian military commander Major General Ali Abdollahi warned foreign forces, particularly the United States, against approaching or entering the Strait of Hormuz, threatening potential attacks if such actions are taken.
The statement also referenced Iran’s previous retaliatory measures following an alleged US and Israeli aggression on February 28, which included closing the strait to enemy vessels and imposing further restrictions on passage.
