Iranian Scientist Warns of Regional Health Security Threat Due to Pasteur Institute Damage

Esmaeil Baghaei, a prominent Iranian scientist, highlighted the potential threat to regional health security in a post on his X account. He cited The Lancet, a leading medical journal, which warned that damage to the Pasteur Institute of Iran, caused by US-Israeli attacks, poses a significant risk.

According to Baghaei, the Pasteur Institute has been crucial for vaccine production and development, reference laboratory services, disease diagnosis, and monitoring of various infectious diseases such as COVID-19, cholera, rabies, measles, tuberculosis, AIDS, and viral hepatitis. The institute’s destruction is not merely symbolic but a severe threat to public health infrastructure in Iran and potentially the broader region.

Baghaei emphasized that this issue extends beyond national borders, impacting public health security across the area.
