Iranian President Criticizes US Actions During Bilateral Talks with French President

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed continued distrust towards the United States during a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, citing repeated US obstruction and reimposition of sanctions as factors that have shifted diplomacy from constructive engagement to pressure and threats. Pezeshkian emphasized Iran’s readiness to resolve outstanding issues within international law but stressed that any effective negotiation requires an end to war and credible guarantees against hostile measures.

The Iranian president also addressed maritime security, asserting that US naval actions in the Strait of Hormuz have disrupted regional confidence and global trade. He rejected claims of Iranian military action against the United Arab Emirates and called for regional states to prevent their territories from being used against Iran.

Pezeshkian urged European states to align diplomatic rhetoric with practical steps on sanctions relief, while welcoming initiatives that strengthen regional peace and security. President Macron reiterated Paris’s support for maintaining a ceasefire framework and reopening the Strait of Hormuz through diplomatic mechanisms, acknowledging US maritime blockades and Israeli attacks in Lebanon as violations.

He expressed readiness to help advance talks and promote multilateral guarantees aimed at achieving lasting regional stability.
