Council Criticizes Israel’s Actions as „Clear Evidence“ of Violations Against International Law

In a statement released on Wednesday, the council condemned widespread and organized crimes committed in the Gaza Strip by describing them as clear evidence of the Zionist regime’s disregard for the UN Charter, human values, and international legal order. The statement highlighted Israel’s lack of practical commitment to international law, fundamental human rights principles, and humanitarian law over decades.

According to published statistics, since October 7, 2023, more than 72,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, with over 172,000 wounded, the majority being women and children. The council emphasized that Israel has repeatedly shown no regard for ceasefire agreements or international law, leading to thousands of civilian casualties, displacement, destruction of infrastructure, and significant human and economic losses.

The statement further argued that few regimes in nearly eight decades of the UN’s existence have engaged as systematically and continuously in the four main international crimes: aggression, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. It noted that political support from Western powers, particularly the United States, has enabled this situation, challenging the credibility of international institutions and undermining public confidence in international justice mechanisms.
